7 days agoThe 21st century often teaches us to endure suffering without complaint -- absolute patience. But could we expect this of children who have no clue what "patience" and "overcoming challenges" means? Children are rough dough — soft, formative, vulnerable.
"You know, we have done something like a ReArmenia Fundraising...in 2023 summer, the worst of the months during blockade. It was a struggle to find food. There was nothing to eat. Only some veggies and herbs collected from our gardens."
People lived with one another during the blockade. People brought hope to one another during the blockade. Therefore we managed to find 20 eggs -- some spoiled from the heat of the day since Artsakh had only six hours of electricity during the whole day. Anyhow, "with the few eggs we had, the sugar kindly shared with us, we made the best cupcakes for our camp participants." A few pieces of homemade cheese from Martakert, some wood and meat from a very kind man and there was nothing else we needed.
This is how "Tun Tegh" organized its then-unknown last camp in Artsakh.
The camp was a safe haven for children. While adults were consumed with worry, children too were absorbing the fear — through the news, through hushed conversations at home. But at the “Tun Tegh” camp, they laughed again. We all knew the blockade and war carried all the blame for this situation.
Two years later, the pain has only deepened. The location has changed — we are now in Armenia — but the wounds are the same.
Displaced children carry not only the trauma of war, but also the grief of losing a homeland — their rooms, their toys, their favorite books, the corners of their neighborhoods. We cannot let them drown in that grief without showing them there is still light ahead.
That is why “Tun Tegh” is determined to organize its seventh weeklong psychosocial camp for displaced children from Artsakh. These camps offer structured psychological and therapeutic sessions led by professionals — helping children process trauma, feel safe again, and rebuild trust. These sessions are balanced with games, teamwork activities, storytelling circles, and small joys that remind them they are not alone.
But this year, for the first time, we couldn’t secure the necessary funding. And yet, so many children — and their parents — are waiting.
So today, instead of “bittersweet sugar,” we ask you to help us gather just enough to bring these children together again. Every small donation brings us closer to another week of healing, laughter, and hope.
Not a single child should be punished for the mistakes of adults and states. We shall do everything in our power to ensure they smile again.
To collect smiles today, we need everyone's support.
If you wish to see the detailed budget of the camp, please go through this link. If you wish to know about previous camps or simply ask us more questions, you can write us here.
Thank you all for your attention, donations, and love!
Yours truly,
"Tun Tegh" Team
